Job Description

Introduction

Our client practice in Portsmouth is seeking an experienced and customer-focused Veterinary Surgeon to join their dedicated team. This is a fantastic opportunity to work in a purpose-built, RCVS-accredited facility equipped with cutting-edge technology and supported by a highly skilled nursing and support team. The practice delivers high-quality care to small animals and exotic pets and is committed to professional development, making it the ideal setting for an ambitious vet looking to grow.

Working Hours / Rota

The role is full-time with flexibility on working patterns, including some weekend work on a rota basis. No OOHs required, ensuring a great work-life balance.

Role Description

The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering high-quality consultations, diagnostic investigations, surgical procedures, and continuity of care. The role includes preventive care, internal medicine, soft tissue surgery, and the potential to focus on areas of interest such as imaging or dentistry. You’ll be supported in developing your clinical interests and working closely with the wider team to deliver gold-standard patient and client care.

Team Size

The practice boasts a clinical team of 6 Veterinary Surgeons, supported by a team of experienced Registered Veterinary Nurses and student nurses. The wider team includes dedicated client care advisors and support staff, fostering a friendly and collaborative working environment.

Practice Details

Our Client Operates From a Purpose-built, Spacious Practice With State-of-the-art Equipment. Services Include Full Diagnostics, Advanced Imaging, And Surgical Capabilities. The Practice Also Functions As a VN Training Centre And Supports New Graduates Through VetGDP. Facilities Include

2 operating theatres with full monitoring (ECG, blood pressure, capnography, pulse oximetry, heated tables) Digital x-ray (for species ranging from dogs to reptiles and fish) Dental x-ray and advanced dental care. Ultrasound with Doppler for cardiac imaging. On-site CT scanner for advanced 3D imaging and surgical planning. Full in-house laboratory (including blood and urine analysis) Separate cat, dog, exotic, and isolation wards. Secure exercise runs and 24/7 on-site nursing support

Ideal Candidate

We are looking for a Veterinary Surgeon with at least 3 years of post-graduate experience, including at least 12 months in UK practice. Strong skills in early diagnosis, case management, and communication are essential. You should be confident working both independently and as part of a team, with a focus on delivering excellent patient care and customer service.
