Job Title: Transport Planner

Location: Trafford Park
Salary: £35,000 - £40,000 (depending on experience)
Shift Pattern: Mon - Fri 10am-6pm/ 11am-7pm

About the Role

A leading UK logistics and distribution business specialising in the General Haulage/ Pallet Network sectors, are looking for a proactive and detail-oriented Transport Planner to join the team in Trafford Park. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with strong planning and organisational skills who thrives in a fast-paced logistics environment.

As a Transport Planner, you will be responsible for planning and optimising transport operations to ensure the safe, efficient, and cost-effective movement of goods while delivering excellent customer service.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and schedule daily transport operations, ensuring vehicles and drivers are effectively allocated.
  • Monitor driver hours and compliance with transport legislation and company policies.
  • React to changes and challenges in real time, updating plans as required.
  • Liaise with drivers, customers, and colleagues to ensure smooth running of operations.
  • Optimise vehicle utilisation and routing to achieve cost savings and service excellence.
  • Maintain accurate records and complete required administration.
  • Support the wider transport team with projects and continuous improvement initiatives.

Skills & Experience Required

  • Previous experience in a transport planning role (essential).
  • General Haulage or Pallet Network experience
  • Knowledge of transport regulations and compliance requirements (Driver Hours, WTD, etc.).
  • Strong IT skills, including transport planning systems and MS Office.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to work under pressure, solve problems, and adapt quickly to change.
  • Strong organisational and analytical skills with keen attention to detail.
