Introduction
Our client practice in Kent is seeking a Veterinary Surgeon with a passion for endoscopy (for medically inclined candidates) or laparoscopy (for surgically inclined candidates). Working Hours / Rota
This is a full-time, permanent position working 4 days per week (8:00am – 6:30pm), with at least one surgical day each week. The rota also includes 1:4 weekends (four-hour shifts) and there is no out-of-hours requirement.
Role Description
In this role, you will conduct thorough examinations, diagnose and manage a variety of conditions, and perform surgical procedures with a focus on endoscopy or laparoscopy. You will utilise advanced diagnostic and interventional techniques, administer anaesthesia with the support of ventilators and multiparameter monitoring, and ensure accurate medical record-keeping. A key part of your role will be communicating effectively with pet owners, offering guidance on treatment options and post-operative care, while collaborating closely with the wider veterinary team to ensure optimal outcomes for patients.
Team Size
The practice boasts a strong and supportive team, consisting of 4 Veterinary Surgeons, 6 RVNs, and a further 10 support staff including receptionists, administrators, and VCAs. You will also work alongside a Lead Veterinary Surgeon and senior colleagues with advanced surgical and medical expertise.
Practice Details
Our client is a highly regarded small animal practice offering a wide range of advanced services. Facilities include ventilator-supported anaesthesia, multiparameter monitoring, a new dental suite currently under development, laser technology (surgical and therapeutic), rapid cancer diagnosis, and a fully equipped in-house laboratory. The practice also accepts referrals for diagnostic and interventional endoscopy as well as advanced laparoscopic procedures, making it a fantastic environment for a vet with specialist interests.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate will be an RCVS-registered Veterinary Surgeon with an interest in endoscopy or laparoscopy, though candidates with additional interests in cardiology, dermatology, internal medicine, or dentistry (especially with the new dental suite on the horizon) are also encouraged to apply. You should have excellent surgical and diagnostic skills, a collaborative approach to teamwork, and a strong focus on delivering high-quality patient care. Candidates pursuing or wishing to pursue postgraduate certification will be fully supported.
Salary and Benefits :
