Building a sustainable tomorrow

The Transpennine Route Upgrade Project (TRU) is a circa £2b multi-disciplinary project upgrading the existing railway route between Manchester and Leeds through the Pennines. It is the largest rail infrastructure project in the north of England.

Your mission

Key Tasks :

  1. Coordinate all Temporary Works across the construction site, regardless of contractor.
  2. Serve as the single point of contact for Temporary Work information.
  3. Ensure relevant project information is received and disseminated appropriately.
  4. Coordinate with other TWC (Temporary Works Coordinator) if managing their own project areas.
  5. Identify all temporary work requirements and maintain an up-to-date Master Register.
  6. Authorize loading of Temporary Works and issue permits for site activities.
  7. Prepare design briefs in consultation with the project team, ensuring accuracy to site conditions, and conduct design checks by a qualified authority.
  8. Develop inspection and test plans, along with quality control checklists, to verify Temporary Works meet standards.
  9. Conduct checks upon Temporary Works completion to confirm no adverse effects on Permanent Works, with certification signed by TWD and TWDC.

Who are we looking for?

  • Experience as a Temporary Works Coordinator on similar projects.
  • Valid CITB Temporary Works Coordinator certification.
  • Knowledge of Temporary Work management procedures, especially BS:5975.
  • Experience in design or engineering management.
  • A civil engineering degree or equivalent is preferred.
  • Knowledge of Network Rail standards and approval processes is advantageous.
  • Understanding of CDM 2015 Regulations, particularly the roles of Designer and Principal Contractor.
  • Chartership or membership with IStructE, ICE, or similar professional bodies.
