Hackney Council is seeking an analytical and detail-oriented Utilities Account Officer to manage our energy accounts. You will be part of a team processing energy bills, managing queries, and identifying ways to reduce Carbon emissions across Schools and Council buildings. Your role is vital in making Hackney Council greener and more efficient, working collaboratively across departments and with external partners.
Your responsibilities include processing utility bills (gas, electricity, water), completing journal recharges, managing supplier payments, responding to utility cost and consumption queries, and supporting metering projects. You will analyze data and participate in utility procurement for corporate contracts and reporting.
Opportunities exist to engage with energy efficiency initiatives, advanced metering, and renewable energy projects. Candidates should have sector experience, knowledge of billing procedures, and an understanding of environmental issues and energy management principles.
To succeed, you should enjoy working under pressure, follow strict procedures, and manage workloads to meet deadlines. Proficiency in IT and utilities data packages, especially Word, Excel, and financial management systems like CedAr and Sigma, is required. Administrative tasks such as arranging meetings, taking minutes, and preparing documents will also be part of your role.
Building and maintaining strong relationships with suppliers, third parties, contractors, engineers, internal stakeholders, schools, and other departments is essential. You must be proactive in engaging and communicating effectively while demonstrating high attention to detail.
