We now have an exciting opportunity to join us as a Lecturer in Nursing (Paediatric). This is a part-time role working 24 hours per week (0.7 FTE).

Main duties of the job

As a Lecturer, you will develop and deliver educational activities on our Nursing Programmes, teaching a variety of subjects and helping our students launch rewarding careers in nursing. You will also contribute to shaping and promoting teaching, research, and external engagement activities related to the Programme alongside the Programme Manager.

Job responsibilities

  1. Deliver, support, and monitor teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, including lectures, workshops, tutorials, and other teaching methods, according to your area of expertise.
  2. Resolve student issues related to attendance, coursework submission, etc., with support from the Senior Lecturer/Programme Manager.
  3. Support student retention, progression, and achievement.
  4. Contribute to the enhancement of teaching quality, curriculum development, and academic practices.
  5. Participate in administrative tasks, attendance monitoring, and relevant committees.
  6. Collaborate with departments like Careers, Employability, Library, and others to enrich the student experience.
  7. Plan and organize student field trips and visits.
  8. Promote the university’s values and principles of equality and diversity.
  9. Other duties as required, including possible travel for events or recruitment activities.

Generic duties for all Lecturers

All Lecturers will undertake a range of academic duties, including teaching, research, student support, and management tasks, contributing to the department’s goals.

Qualifications

  • MSc Nursing Degree or equivalent experience
  • NMC registration as a Registered Paediatric Nurse
  • A postgraduate teaching qualification or willingness to obtain one
  • More than one part of NMC registration

  • Ability to deliver high-quality, innovative teaching and learning materials.
  • Proficiency with online teaching tools like MS Teams, Canvas, Zoom, etc.

Experience

  • Experience in online and face-to-face teaching within higher education or clinical settings.
  • Experience in simulation-based nursing education.
  • Teamwork and collaboration experience across curriculum development and research.
  • Specific experience in Research Methods in Nursing and Healthcare or practical/clinical equivalent.
  • Subject-specific expertise in areas like Leadership, Management, Clinical Skills, etc.
  • Experience presenting at conferences and engaging in academic discussions.

Salary range: £33,564 - £39,867 per annum, pro-rata. Full-time equivalent: £44,752 - £53,157.
