Heyne Tillett Steel is an award-winning structural and civil engineering practice with a reputation for intelligent design and innovative, practical solutions. Based in central London and established in 2007 by directors Andy Heyne, Mark Tillett and Tom Steel, the practice now has over 180 people. About the role:


We are currently looking to add a People Coordinator to our supportive and welcoming HR team. This role will include responding to HR queries and managing day to day administration for the department and will be reporting to the Head of People.

The ideal candidate:


  • Experience in a similar HR role or within the built environment.
  • Able to communicate with people across all levels.
  • Self-motivated and able to prioritise activities.
  • Pro-active and hands-on approach.
  • Eager to learn and develop skills.
  • High level of attention to detail.


Key responsibilities:


  • Point of contact for day to day HR queries including Company Policies, general HR queries and HR databases (CMap, Bamboo).
  • Managing full employee life cycle – welcoming new starters, employee onboarding preparing offer letters, contracts, gathering employee documents for payroll onboarding, exit interviews, offboarding.
  • Payroll and Benefits administration – ensuring information is sent to relevant departments for inclusion each month, assisting with creating reports, working with finance team on queries, processing employee benefits and confirming eligibility.
  • Assisting with employee data collection, surveys and various HR reporting.
  • Visa and Immigration – submitting visa applications, monitoring company SMS portal, drafting immigration documentation, logging right to work checks.
  • Working with Head of People to help develop and amend company policies, benefits, employee engagement proposals and various projects within the department
  • Liaise with existing contacts at charities and foundations to offer work experience opportunities to young people
  • Organising employee initiatives
  • Coordinate training sessions for all and management training
  • Calculating and allocating annual leave for all employees
  • Auditing all HR records annually and keeping all data up to date for use in reporting and analysis
