One of the UK’s most inspiring and best known faith-based organisations is looking for a passionate, proactive and influential HR professional to join one of our regional teams as an HR Advisor. In this pivotal role the HR Advisor will provide HR support to a dedicated area, ensuring the consistent delivery of HR strategy, initiatives and policies, by educating and empowering local managers. The successful candidate will be responsible for the delivery of high level HR support including, support and empowerment of managers to deliver HR strategy and work in line with our policies and practices across the organisation.


Reporting to the HR Business Partner, as our customer-focused, driven and resilient HR Advisor, you will inspire a culture of clear accountability, high engagement and exemplary performance. You will ensure the delivery of service level agreements and will expertly advise and assist on areas such as workforce planning, recruitment, employee relations and absence management – minimising risk, identifying problem areas, and recommending corrective action.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Challenge, coach and mentor local management to engage and develop employee capability and behaviours in line with the organisations mission and values
  • Working as part of a team providing high level HR advice and guidance on complex Employee Relations cases
  • Support the development and implementation of all HR policies and practices in order to provide consistency across the organisation and deliver training on same
  • Support managers on a one to one basis to carry out HR related processes such as recruitment, absence management, performance management
  • Deputise for the HR Business Partner in their absence, support and work closely with the HRBP on a day to day basis by taking an active lead on all operational duties


The successful candidate(s) will be able to demonstrate:

  • Associate Membership of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development
  • Experience of successfully advising and coaching line managers on HR issues, up-to-date knowledge of employment legislation and codes of practice, and experience of recruitment, selection and interviewing
  • Experience of employee relations casework and of delivering HR training
  • Experience of managing TUPE
  • Ability to work within the Christian ethos of The Salvation Army
