Legal Counsel - Renewable Energy – London Area, UK

The Role/Requirements

The position entails supporting the International Legal Team by delivering contracts, advice, and training to manage legal risks within the global wind farm and battery energy storage project delivery business. Furthermore, the candidate will play a role in supporting the strategy to maintain a leading position as a renewable energy developer.

  • Draft, review, and manage contracts for wind farm and battery energy storage projects, covering development, construction, and maintenance phases (EPC, TSA, BOP, O&M, LTSA, and procurement contracts).
  • Ensure consistent oversight of proposals and contracts, managing their life cycle, setting bidding standards, overseeing negotiations, and handling document processes.
  • Support management in corporate governance and risk management, focusing on compliance and risk assessment for project contractors. Provide commercial and contract support to sales and project teams.
  • Review and negotiate contracts during tender processes with customers and suppliers, including FIDIC contracts.

The Person:

  • Degree In Law.
  • Qualified projects/construction lawyer with 2-4 years PQE, gained in private practice or in-house.
  • Experience in a legal / commercial / contract management function relating to international renewable energy projects (ideally onshore or offshore wind farm projects.)
  • Background in renewable energy contracts and/or construction is essential.
  • Experience of working in a large, global organization with different stakeholders, working practices and cultures.
  • Strong knowledge of international projects/construction/site construction law in practice, including wind energy contracts in UK or Europe is essential.
  • English, Spanish, Chinese and other European Languages are an advantage.
