Job Description

As we look to scale to beyond a million UK customers, we recognise that growing our brand fame will be crucial. We’re looking for an experienced PR Manager to help us fulfil our ambitious external comms plans and drive our bold campaigns.

Alongside our PR agency, you will support the running of an active, always-on press office – using your expertise and understanding of the media landscape to secure frequent and impactful positive coverage for SB – all in support of our customers.

You’ll use your PR experience to drive the channel forward, finding sophisticated ways to measure success, and identify and evaluate opportunities. Our PR Manager will also play a vital role in the ever-more ambitious, integrated campaigns and activations of SB messages externally, while providing communications counsel across Simply Business as required.

Reporting to Bonny (Head of Content, Social and PR), you’ll have a manager who will be both supportive and empowering – encouraging you to use your creativity to drive positive outcomes for the business, while challenging you to think deliberately about your ongoing personal development.

As one of our PR Managers, you’ll:

  • help to shape and implement an ambitious PR strategy for Simply Business that integrates with wider brand and comms plans
  • work closely with our retained, newly-recruited PR agency – helping to maximise this partnership, while always looking for ways for us to improve
  • deliver a range of bold, customer-focused campaigns on selected product/brand activations – positioning Simply Business as a positive champion of the small business community
  • drive the success of our proactive and reactive press office activity – writing and editing press releases that see us earn frequent media coverage
  • provide communications counsel across Simply Business, coaching as required
  • establish a strong network of influencers, spokespeople and advocates across the business and our customer base

We’re looking for someone who is:

  • a strong writer, comfortable crafting and editing press releases on a range of topics
  • adept at finding – and telling – compelling stories which cut through with media, position Simply Business favourably, and resonate with consumers
  • a proactive self-starter, full of creative ideas and possessing the needed drive and organisation to get them off the ground
  • experienced in developing, managing and amplifying campaigns, using a variety of creative tactics – from social media, to broadcast, to stunts – to earn positive media coverage
  • excited by the evolving comms landscape, and has an appreciation for great brand marketing
  • passionate about supporting the success of small business owners and the self-employed

(We know it’s tough, but please try to avoid the confidence gap. You don’t have to match all the bullet points above to be considered for this role.)

We encourage people of all different backgrounds and identities to apply. We are committed to maintaining an inclusive, supportive place for you to be you and do your very best work.

If you’re passionate about supporting the success of small business owners and the self-employed, apply today.
