Finance Assistant

Base pay range
£25,000 – £27,500 per annum
Role Overview
This Finance Assistant reports to the Management Accountant and will ensure accurate, timely processing of revenue and costs. While the primary focus is on revenue and costs, the role offers exposure to credit control and other finance functions.
Responsibilities
- Ensure all revenue is processed accurately.
- Own the revenue and billing contract files, ensuring accurate reflection of contracts.
- Complete month‑end activities, including reconciliation of invoicing and commission payments, and processing month‑end and year‑end journals.
- Recognise revenue in line with revenue recognition policy and standards.
- Tackle internal and external queries effectively and efficiently.
- Continuously seek process improvements and use technology for automation.
- Provide weekly revenue updates to the senior management team.
- Support creation of monthly board packs.
- Assist with external audit queries.
Qualifications and Desired Experience
- Finance background with understanding of revenue recognition, accruals, balance sheets, etc.
- Experience in corporate finance teams.
- Knowledge of accounting software, ideally NetSuite.
- Proficient in Excel, including look‑ups and pivot tables.
- Attention to detail and ability to spot numerical errors.
- Professional, positive “can‑do” attitude.
- Adaptable, flexible team player willing to undertake a wide range of activities.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, able to interact professionally at all organisational levels.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
Ideal Experience
- Understanding of insurance broking and how commissions work.
