Job Description

Overview

Manufacturing Engineer to work with a well-established engineering company based near Halesowen. You will be responsible for overseeing the design and implementation of the production processes for the machine shop, and for improving the efficiencies and quality of the production process.

Shift

08.00am – 17.00pm (15:30 finish on Fridays)

Duties

  • Review production plan and minimise set up time on next jobs to be processed
  • Ensure route card instructions and drawings are legible and understood
  • Analyze and report on production processes, methods, set up times, and cycle times
  • Map current process (workflow and work study on production runners)
  • Analyse and evaluate actual process times against standards
  • Establish an effective work sequence/workflow strategy
  • Implement best practice to improve efficiency (change standard)
  • Set up structured program vaults on CNC machines
  • Evaluate quality control processes and make recommendations for improvements
  • Ensure manufacturing processes comply with relevant policies/procedures and customer requirements/regulations
  • Audit/verify that employees follow route card instructions and procedures while operating equipment
  • Review and calculate costs of tools and equipment in the production process and predict overheads for future production requirements
  • Assist in minimising downtime of equipment by:
    • Coordinating maintenance and repair services around production schedules
    • Ensuring Operator TPM checks/actions are performed
    • If trained, cover employee absence
  • Remain up to date with developments and advancements in machining processes and technology
  • Assist in defining essential safety protocols and identify, document and report unsafe situations/routines

Qualifications / Experience

  • The successful candidate will have 3–5 years’ experience as a Manufacturing Engineer within a CNC environment (Essential)
  • In-depth knowledge of manufacturing and production processes (Essential)
  • Ability to write and deliver SOPs (Essential)
  • Experience within heavy engineering (Desirable)
