Job Summary

Calico seeks a freelance 360 Video Editor help create a VR training tool exploring fem experiences of the night-time economy.

Job Description

Calico is looking for a skilled Freelance 360 Video Editor to join our team in creating a powerful virtual reality (VR) training tool that explores the lived experiences of women, girls and lgbtqia+ folk in the night-time economy (NTE). The tool will invite NTE staff - such as bar, security, and transport workers - to step into these experiences, encouraging empathy and supporting safer, more inclusive nightlife spaces.

You will collaborate closely with a Unity Developer, Sound Designer, and 3D Modelling Artist, under the creative direction of Calico's co-directors Daz Scott and Martha Harrison. The project builds upon https://wearecalico.co.uk/training/ - CurfewVR , our acclaimed training programme for safer public spaces, and represents the next stage in Calico's mission to use art, storytelling, and technology as catalysts for social change.

The 360 Video Editor will be responsible for reviewing, stitching, and editing 360 footage captured by Calico to create an immersive VR environment. You'll shape visual flow and guide viewer attention, using transitions, motion cues, and subtle visual effects to support narrative clarity and emotional impact. You will work closely with the 3D Modelling Artist to ensure smooth integration of 3D elements into live footage, and prepare exports optimised for Unity implementation.

This freelance role combines remote flexibility with one in-person meeting in Birmingham (travel paid). You'll have creative freedom to propose visual storytelling techniques while ensuring consistency with Calico's artistic and social goals.

5-9 Jan: 4 flexible days - create rough cut
