Overview

Location: Cheshire (North West)

Salary: Circa 70k

We're recruiting for an experienced EC&I Manager to join a leading chemical manufacturing business. This is a hands-on leadership role, combining technical expertise with team management. You will oversee all site electrical, control, and instrumentation systems - ensuring safe, compliant, and efficient operations while supporting new and ongoing projects. This position offers the chance to take ownership of site EC&I standards, drive continuous improvement, and act as a technical lead in a high-hazard COMAH environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the safe execution of reactive and proactive maintenance across electrical and instrumentation systems.
  • Act as the Responsible Person for HV and LV works on site.
  • Manage and continuously improve EC&I standards, SCADA systems, SIL systems, and DSEAR compliance.
  • Own instrumentation calibration, loop checks, and verification processes.
  • Collaborate with Production, Engineering, and Planning teams to maximise operational efficiency.
  • Contribute to new projects, ensuring EC&I compliance throughout design, installation, and commissioning stages.
  • Liaise with contractors and suppliers, managing costs, resources, and timescales.
  • Support COMAH compliance and contribute as a technical lead during audits and inspections.
  • Lead health & safety initiatives, risk assessments, and contribute to site-wide safety improvements.
  • Champion continuous improvement, ensuring KPIs and PPM schedules are met through the site CMMS.

About You

  • Degree qualified in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent) OR extensive relevant industry experience.
  • Strong knowledge of EC&I systems within a chemical, process, or high-hazard manufacturing environment.
  • Qualifications such as C&G 18th Edition, Electrical Installation, DSEAR/COMPEX essential.
  • Additional knowledge of IEC 61508/61511, Siemens S7, or SCADA development would be advantageous.
  • Experienced in HV/LV electrical systems and safe isolation procedures (LOTO).
  • Strong leadership, project management, and contractor management skills.
  • Excellent organisational, planning, and communication abilities.

Hours

Hours: Monday to Friday, 8am - 4pm, with flexibility required around project deadlines and occasional travel to support wider operations.
