About Us

Terra Perma and Woodlab Studio span the realms of design, ecological building and craftsmanship. We work together to produce buildings that don’t cost the earth, and hand-made furniture and installations from eco-forested timber.

Our ethos is to bring lasting beauty and environmental intelligence into construction and woodwork, making places that feel good, calm, and stand the test of time.

Our approach is rooted in sustainable design, bio-based materials, and careful craft. We don’t just build for now, we build for future generations. Whether it’s a new eco home or a thoughtful retrofit, we aim for warmth, integrity, and a lighter footprint.

You won’t find shortcuts here, just honest materials, skilled hands, creative thinkers, and buildings that reflect the people who live in them.

The role

As demand for our ecological and natural material projects grows, we’re looking for a talented, creative Architect / Designer to join our expanding team. You’ll:

  • Work across all RIBA stages: from site visits and client meetings to design, delivery, and inspections
  • Collaborate with engineers, makers, and builders
  • Prepare proposals, review colleagues’ work, and contribute ideas
  • Help deliver high-quality, ecological projects on time and on budget
  • Work across structural, interior and joinery drawings

What we’re looking for

  • At least two years’ relevant experience (qualified or equivalent)
  • Experience in domestic/rural design and direct client work
  • Advanced CAD skills
  • Good understanding of RIBA stages 0–7, CDM, and construction sequencing
  • A detail-focused, logical thinker with sound judgement
  • Above all: enthusiasm for ecological design and sustainable materials

What we offer

  • Training and development tailored to your interests
  • A diverse, supportive, and skilled team
  • A workplace that values creativity, experimentation, and hands-on learning
  • A woodland-based office
  • The odd beach day when the sun shines!

Please email a CV and cover letter / video to contact@woodlabstudio.co

If you don’t meet every requirement but feel aligned with our mission, we’d still love to hear from you – tell us why you’d fit.
