Job Description

Overview

As a Transport Officer you will be part of the Strategic Planning Team, working alongside the Senior Transport Officer helping to develop and deliver sustainable transport schemes, primarily as part of new developments and County Council-led projects. These include new and upgraded active travel infrastructure, bus priority measures, travel/mobility hubs, new electric vehicle chargepoints, car clubs and micromobility hire schemes. You will also help shape transport policies in the new Local Plan and related documents.

Key responsibilities

  • Support the development and delivery of sustainable transport schemes as part of new developments and Council-led projects.
  • Contribute to the planning and delivery of active travel infrastructure, bus priority measures, travel/mobility hubs, electric vehicle charging points, car clubs and micromobility schemes.
  • Help shape transport policies in the Local Plan and related planning documents.
  • Engage with and provide transport advice to internal officers and external stakeholders including councillors and members of the public.

Experience and qualifications

  • Relevant Transport or Town Planning qualification and experience.
  • Knowledge of transport planning and project delivery, and an understanding of how transport policies, strategies and schemes are developed using data, evidence and consultation.
  • Ability to take on a demanding and varied workload across multiple simultaneous projects.
  • Well organised with proven verbal, written and presentation skills and the ability to prioritise tasks and manage time effectively.
  • Initiative, good interpersonal skills and comfort with using and learning a variety of software and IT systems.
