Overview

Join our Mining team at WSP as a Graduate in an engineering and professional advisory services environment. You will contribute to the mining life cycle from exploration and pre-feasibility through to mine closure, with opportunities to work on international projects and learn from experienced colleagues across different technical areas. This role is embedded in a multidisciplinary team with geotechnical, hydrogeology, water resources, and mine waste engineers, and involves collaboration with diverse clients and stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to mining projects across the life cycle, including exploration, pre-feasibility, design, operation, and closure, with a focus on sustainable mining practices.
  • Work on projects related to Mine Water, Mine Waste, Hydrology / Water Resource Engineering, Hydrogeology, and Geochemistry in various locations (e.g., Naas, Ireland; Birmingham or London; Sheffield/Leeds).
  • Support modelling and design activities such as water balance modelling, dam break assessments, hydraulics design for mine sites, and water quality modelling.
  • Engage in fieldwork and data collection, site visits (domestic and international), and development of technical documents under supervision.
  • Prepare technical reports, descriptions of investigations, results, conclusions, and recommendations, and contribute to Environmental and Social Impact Assessments where applicable.
  • Support business development activities, contribute to proposals, and maintain relationships with clients and internal teams; travel as required by project needs.

Qualifications

  • Graduated with at least a 2:2 in a master’s or bachelor’s degree in a relevant subject for the role.
  • Willingness and ability to travel in the UK and internationally, including to remote environments.
  • Proficient in Microsoft packages and able to interpret and monitor results using various design tools for geotechnical structures.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Enthusiasm for creativity, problem-solving, and sharing new ideas.
  • Interest in pursuing Chartered status and ongoing professional development.
