Job Description

Join to apply for the Charity Fundraiser role at The Fundraising Partnership.

The role is fundraising as a 3rd party agent, employed by The Fundraising Partnership, representing and fundraising on behalf of Claire House Childrens Hospice. Your job will be to find more people to support us with a small regular donation by talking to local people at their homes, being friendly, explaining what Claire House does, and asking them to become a regular supporter via the Claire House Lottery programme.

Claire House relies on donations for 75% of its income. These services are only free to families because of fundraising. You can be a vital part of helping Claire House raise the money that it needs to meet the needs of local families.

Genuine work-life balance

Imagine a job where:

  • People from all kinds of backgrounds and ages, including people shifting careers aged 40-65, are successful.
  • 80% of the staff work 3 or 4 days per week.
  • You can potentially work your hours between 9am to 7pm Monday to Friday and 10am to 3pm on Saturdays.
  • Most staff vary their working hours week to week to fit around time with family, friends, pets, medical appointments, etc. You can compress your hours over 2 weeks to get blocks of days off.
  • You generally work within half an hour of your home; travel time is built into your contract and you get a travel allowance.
  • The company shuts down over Christmas and New Year for at least a full week.
  • Training is comprehensive but done remotely by home study with ongoing support and encouragement.

We think supporting a good work-life balance for our staff is business-critical. We offer flexible local working and a culture that supports you to maximise your life outside of work. A worthwhile job that also has its rewards.

Which charity would I be helping?

The role is working as a face-to-face charity fundraiser on behalf of Claire House Childrens Hospice. Claire House provides care for families across a wide area that goes beyond Liverpool and the Wirral, into much of north Wales, Cheshire, South Lancashire and the Isle of Man. They support more than 400 families every year but there are unfortunately even more that need support.

How You Can Make a Difference

A typical fundraiser will raise more than £400,000 for the charity every year that they work for. So you would be doing a job where after 5 years of work, through your professionalism, integrity, and hard work you could raise more than £2 million for charities that deal, quite literally, in matters of life and death. Charity lotteries are vital to keeping these charities going.

Here is a short snapshot of a day in the life of a face-to-face fundraiser, who in this example is working on behalf of Derian House Childrens hospice.

People from all backgrounds can be successful

You may have worked in sales previously or done charitable fundraising before; this isn’t essential because our approach with potential supporters is to find people inclined to support the charity and have a nice conversation to see if this form of support is right for them. Our fundraisers come from many backgrounds. Most of our best people are great conversationalists who talk with people in everyday life.
