Overview

Quality Assurance Team Lead at STERIS. Lead a QA team to ensure software testing meets standards and supports business needs.

What Is Involved

• Oversees a team of testers to ensure software is tested to the standard, guiding the QA team’s journey and approach.
• Organizes QA team resource allocation supporting shifts across projects as new requirements arise and priorities change.
• Azure support and management (Dashboard management, updating work item type fields, adding in custom parameters, housekeeping).
• Guides projects and tasks of the QA team that report to them on a day-to-day basis.
• Manages difficult scenario decision making on behalf of QA.
• Validates test plans and leads test briefings/debriefs.
• Partners with QA management on Test Strategy for key projects.
• Guides and supports the QA team through testing and learning; guides cross-functional teams (e.g., Dev, Business Analysis) through wider testing approaches.
• Responds to questions from wider teams to guide resolutions.
• Performs Senior level QA processes such as providing day-to-day test support, planning, testing and validation, assessing test plans, and facilitating critical issue triage.
• Partner with Development Leads to facilitate software releases and ensure release readiness; communicate validation of releases to relevant parties.
• Creates, contributes to, maintains, and ratifies key business and team documentation (e.g., risk assessments, SOPs, process documents, release records, audit documentation, team and software support Wikis).
• Supports training and development of the team; facilitates continuous improvements suggested by the team; conducts testing research and shares learning.
• Performance management; interview and onboard new starters; own the QA training program; organize site visits.
• Support the wellbeing of QA members; conduct regular 1-2-1s; promote staff mental health and guide to resources as needed.

Required Experience

• Five years software testing experience, preferably in a healthcare solutions environment; ideally at a senior level for an appropriate length of time.
• Leadership experience (1 year).
• Excellent interpersonal and collaborative skills; good written and verbal communication; attention to detail.
• Inquisitive, tenacious, and problem-solving mindset.
• Competent in Azure DevOps; good SQL understanding; good working knowledge of testing APIs.
• Ability to prioritise work under pressure; measurable under pressure; delegation skills; problem-solving orientation.
• Ability to listen to team concerns and aid in resolutions; good Microsoft Office skills; computer literate/tech savvy; strong maths and literacy skills.
• Ability to work independently and fluidly move onto projects needing support; understanding of varied testing methodologies and when to apply them.
