Job Description

JOB – Mechanical Design Engineer

LOCATION – Newhaven

TERM – Permanent

SALARY – £30,000 to £40,000 per annum (plus benefits)

My client is a specialist engineering manufacturer providing bespoke mechanical products and systems. They are looking to take on an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to join their team in Newhaven.

The Mechanical Design Engineer will ideally have the following attributes:

  • 5+ years’ experience in mechanical design within a manufacturing or engineering environment
  • Proficiency with 3D CAD software such as SolidWorks, Inventor, or similar
  • Strong knowledge of materials, fabrication, and manufacturing processes
  • Ability to produce accurate 3D models, detailed 2D drawings, and BOMs
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work within a team environment
  • Relevant engineering qualification (HNC, HND, BEng, MEng, or equivalent)

The Mechanical Design Engineer role will involve:

  • Designing mechanical components and assemblies for a range of projects
  • Producing CAD models, technical drawings, and documentation for manufacture
  • Liaising with production, purchasing, and project teams to ensure design intent is achieved
  • Supporting prototype builds and testing activities
  • Developing and improving existing designs to enhance performance and manufacturability
  • Ensuring designs meet quality, safety, and industry standards
  • Working closely with customers and colleagues to deliver tailored engineering solutions
